Strangely enough, Progenitor Mobai was not a member of the Mu, perhaps only a disciple there. He could have started his own clan or dao lineage but chose to find the survivors of the Mu. He then started a dao system there with them so that they could prosper. No one understood the reasoning behind this, doing a favor for another clan. He never explained either. Rumor has it that he mentioned something about atonement. The actual details eluded future generations. Regardless of the reason, the Mu worshiped him as their founding progenitor despite his different last name. This wasn’t a problem because they were on the verge of dying out.
