I looked over my shoulder to see three men I hadn’t seen before following us closely. They looked just like the men who stopped us at the gate, but less scary without their weapons on full display. That made me relax, just a little bit Henry came into view. "Master Ares," he said. "This way, I have prepared your quarters." With hands behind his back, he led us to the third floor. It didn’t take long before we got there. Ares spoke to his men, and they nodded, going to whatever position he had ordered them to be. I waited until he finished, and he came to me. "Is this my room?" I asked, looking at the door. "What gave you the impression that you’d have your room?" "Of course, having separate rooms will create suspicion. Staying here the weekend is gonna be exhausting, trying to keep up appearances and—" "That is not what I meant." I blinked, confused at first, before it dawned on me. I agreed to the sex contract. I was so used to modern aesthetics that being here felt like I had time-traveled. It was spacious, twice the size of my bedroom back at the penthouse. The walls and ceiling were covered in burgundy wood with gold carvings everywhere, as if it belonged to royalty. A grand chandelier hung at the center, glowing warmly and making the gold details shine. Matching curtains framed the tall windows, and the bedding was large, with a headboard that looked like a throne. There was also a padded bench sitting at the foot of the bed. The soft lights from the lamps on the bedside set the mood, too. What mood? That shit only happens when a marriage is about to be consummated in historical movies. This is our first night together, well, not in that sense, but sharing a bedroom. My nerves spiked when I felt him behind. I jumped to the other side.
