Chapter 2058: The Fight At The End of Time Victorious Genesis stumbled back in shock. He had felt the ripples of his power slam against the creatures, and it was like he splashed water on a mountain. He could not feel much power from these creatures, but they were incredibly dense that no living being should be able to survive with such a body, even a Primordial would lose all their energy in a few millennia just to power this body. "What in Eos holy bottom are these things made of?!" Victorious Genesis swore aloud, making the Old Ones below become pale in horror, and Circe wondered if it was because of the swear word from her brethren or due to their seemingly invincible opponents, but she would wager it was both. She could immediately sense something odd when Victorious Genesis had struck these creatures, and Fury placed the words in her mouth, "These things are not alive... they just are." Looking closely at these creatures, as more seemed to leave their feast and descend as the shockwave from the punch from Victorious Genesis reached them. Their bodies were chitinous horrors, segmented shells gleaming with an oily iridescence that absorbed light and spat back shadows. Mandibles like obsidian scythes, which Circe could hear clicking in rhythmic unison, and in that sound she heard as much as felt the weight of endless consumption that echoed through the crumbling Existence. Before these creatures had been descending as if they were following a scent, most likely tracking their consciousness, but after the attack, they opened their eyes, and Circe saw that on the face of each creature were thousands of eyes. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖 Each eye was like a faceted void that reflected nothing, and they scanned everything below with the cold clinical detachment of a robot. "We cannot hold anything back, or we would not survive this mission," Circe whispered to herself, and then she screamed, "We cannot hold back!" Victorious Genesis looked down, and he nodded, and without any hesitation, he began burning his Origin Force, and his massive body grew colossal. His form took on a colossal silhouette of golden armor etched with runes of triumph, long faded, and those that were not yet born. From his back burst out two golden wings, vast and feathered like the dawn of new eras. They beat slowly, yet they stirred eddies of raw Origin Force that were so powerful they briefly repelled the nearest insects, when the full might of his punch had just previously splashed against their armored skeleton. Circe did not hold back, although she did not burn her Origin Force like Victorious Genesis, she unleashed the full might of her Origin, and she became a being of flickering embers and eternal flame, as her previously immortal body transformed into a cascade of molten light that danced like fireflies in the gloom. Her hands wove sparks into chains, fueling whatever sparks of resistance remained in this faded Existence and this became a dome of light that erupted from her body. Beside her, Fury, the Primordial of Resurrection, had also transformed into a looming spectral giant, cloaked in veils of ethereal mist, his eyes glowing with the pale luminescence of souls recalled from oblivion. His cold power touched the dome of light created by Circe, and it made it expand, sweeping past Victorious Genesis and creating a shield that covered the entirety of this dead world. A voice whispered in the heart of every Old One, "Watch and observe, but your sanity is at great risk. We shall resurrect you if you perish for as long as we are able to. This is your opportunity to find the path to Primordial, and the reason all of you took this dangerous task." Their action was like pouring fuel into a raging fire as more of the swarm stopped feasting upon Existence and began to fall towards this one dead world. A trillion bodies surged forward, their legs skittering across the void like needles on skin, piercing the barrier of space with effortless power. The shield placed over the world by two Primordials slowed them down; it was never meant to block, just delay. However, one particularly large insect pushed through the barrier and lunged at Victorious Genesis, its mandibles snapping shut on empty air as he dodged with a burst of golden energy. But another followed, and another, their forms blurring into a living storm. They devoured the space between, turning the void into a churning mass of exoskeletons and insatiable maws, and their attacks were not simple but were incredibly complex and precise, like a clock. Thousands had been able to make it through the golden barrier, and they surrounded Victorious Genesis. He smiled, burning his Origin Force was the most terrible pain he had ever felt in his life, and was likely the greatest pain he would ever feel, but the results were clear, as the power he had gained was something that only a Primordial would unleash when there was no more hope. "We hold," Victorious Genesis roared, his voice a thunderclap that sent out a visible wave of force that shattered a hundred insects into glittering shards, only for the shards to reform, wriggling back into whole bodies that pressed onward. "For as long as it takes." Another shockwave erupted from his mouth that was as powerful as the first, but now barely half of these insects were shattered underneath his voice. He followed with a punch that vaporized all the tens of thousands of insects that surrounded him, but in less than a second, as if pulling themselves from nothing, the insects returned. A resounding crack echoed, and Circe and Fury flinched as the barrier they created could no longer hold. Giving a signal to Victorious Genesis, they shrank the barrier until it was barely a thousand miles across. Victorious Genesis followed the shrinking barrier and stood before them, and being so close, Circe and Fury could not assist him in attacking. Flames burst out from their bodies, each of these Primordial, controlled, powerful flames. Circe, in the form of her Kindling’s flames and Fury, was a phoenix before becoming a Primordial, and his heritage over fire was equally as profound. With the barrier shrunken down to a smaller radius, flames flared out from their bodies and covered the barrier, and the insects that descended upon the barrier turned to ash, but this ash reformed into sleeker, hungrier variants. "They adapt," Circe hissed, her voice crackling like burning wood. "They are becoming stronger." The Primordial of Resurrection extended a misty hand, pulling back a fallen fragment of the barrier and wove it anew with threads of recalled life. "Then we buy more time.
