Many of them didn’t appreciate outsiders being in charge of Stygian, especially the leader who was from the nine worlds. Their progenitor, Mang, was slain by another inhabitant from that world. Moreover, Guardian had defeated them in battle several times. Thus, they had a distaste for those from the nine worlds. Immortal Gu Chun was also a member of Guardian once, or at least had deep ties with it. Somehow, such a cultivator became the leader of Stygian. This was the reason why they were motivated to have Immortal Devourer take the lead. However, they knew nothing could touch Immortal Emperor Gu Chun. This was just a display og defiance. “Dark Realm makes all the decisions.” Penta-stars didn’t wish to hand the authority over to Immortal Devourer. “We have to let a golden immortal lead the formation, time is of the essence. We can’t let the enemies take advantage of this.” Mirage said. Fallen Ten, more than anyone, wished to chase Immortal Gu Chun out of the alliance. “Devouring Abyss doesn’t have the only golden immortal here.” One of the old men said before whistling. “Rumble!” In a bottomless ruin, something monstrous crawled up and pulled broken stars with it. This thing entered the battlefield and displayed its enormous size. Its aura caused immortals nearby to stagger. It was a worm with no head, only a mouth with countless rows of teeth. It sucked in and stars fell into its mouth, crunched into pieces. “Devouring Lord!” Everyone shuddered. This was one of Dark Realm’s three golden immortals and the old Devouring Alliance’s one of three messengers. “Immortal Devourer, you have grown impatient. Wanting to seize authority? Still far too weak.” A middle-aged man with a pleasant voice spoke. He appeared amidst the dark light; each step birthed a lotus. He wore a robe decorated with feather embroidery and didn’t emit a frightening aura. He also had a feathered fan, waving it like a scholar. “Controller.” Big-foot Immortal’s expression soured. The other immortals and overlords bowed to show respect. He was one of the three messengers, potentially the oldest immortal currently in their alliance. He had advised Mang and then Zhao Dachui. He was the one who came up with the plan to make Golden Mortal World their own, on top of recruiting numerous followers. During Zhao Dachui’s generation, he ordered immortals to sneak into the other worlds and waited for the right moment to devour. All in all, he played a great part in Devouring Alliance’s success. “Are you not afraid of death, Immortal Devourer? Playing this game before the battle.” Controller’s words brimmed with strength and authority. “I am only thinking about the alliance and the powerful enemies. Plus, this is the way it should be, the strong should lead.” Immortal Devourer said. “Dissension is against the rule.” Controller said.
