Muchen paid little attention to the offering, instead focusing on his spirit fruit before closing his eyes to rest. Inside a nearby carriage, she recounted her meeting with the little boy. "Madam, that child seems to be alone, with no adults around. I gave him some pastries, but he said he didn’t want them, so I left the plate there. I’ll go back and get it later," the maid said softly as she came to her side to help her boil tea and pour water.
