Hilston Blade

Hilston enjoys fighting the strong and takes on a sense of responsibility as the head of the Blade Family, albeit in a skewed way. He adheres to the family philosophy: "Train beyond the limits, for Humans have unlimited possibility and strength." This belief fuels his conviction that he can achieve anything, as evidenced by his refusal to share the Demon-tier crystal. However his year of power made him grow over confident which eventually lead to his downfall when he fought Sil, foolishly believing he could still beat sil even with only four abilities at his disposal and no beast armory.

Hilston is a large, muscular older man with a short, scruffy gray beard and spiky gray hair. His physique is immense, with arms as thick as a regular person’s thighs, showcasing his bulging muscles. He wears a simple, sleeveless top that highlights his muscular frame. His armor, a set colored with black and gold trim, has a demonic design, fitting him perfectly with its intimidating, Demon-tier appearance. His appearance has changed over the years as he switched bodies.

His backstory is revealed by Brock in Chapter 1256. Hilston was once an orphan, struggling to survive on the streets until a mysterious man took him in. For two years, the man showed him kindness and spoiled him, but one day, he suddenly kicked Hilston out. Desperate, Hilston begged to return, but instead was cast aside with harsh words. The man told him that to prove himself, he needed to become stronger and become a Blade the man could use. Years later, when Hilston saw the man had taken in another boy, he decided to kill the boy to earn the man’s favor. Presenting the boy’s lifeless body to the man, Hilston’s actions pleased him, and the man took him back into his fold. However, after a year, the man cast Hilston out once again, replacing him with another. This started a cruel cycle in which Hilston would kill his replacement to regain the man’s favor, repeating the pattern over and over. The cycle continued until the man took in someone with a special ability. As Hilston tried to kill this new boy, he realized he too possessed an ability. This marked the beginning of the Blade family's legacy: the ability to copy the powers of other ability users. Eventually, Hilston had a family and a son, whom he hoped to pass his ability on to. However, when the mysterious man began showing interest in Hilston’s son, jealousy consumed Hilston. To maintain control, he used his ability, "Mind Transfer," to take over his son's body. Hilston’s immortality was explained through this method—whenever he found a stronger Blade, he would kill his old self and transfer his mind into the new body, ensuring his position as the strongest Blade. Hilston first appeared when Jack Trudream decided to take his army, and take the Shadow Ability from the Blade family. He copied the abilities of five different Chained, and fought Trudream's entire army single-handedly. He wielded the Fire ability around him, the lightning and earth ability to attack, and was believed to have used the Bree family ability to tame the Demon-Tier Beast. It is later revealed that he destroyed the majority of Dreamland, Trudream's home and base. Hilston talked a bit with Vorden after coming back from military school, and decided to send him back to the temple as a teacher.
