Chapter 1755: Midwak’s Last Resort Midwak stood fully transformed, his body vibrating with a raw, intoxicating energy. He had never felt strength quite like this before. In the time leading up to this moment, he had consumed a significant number of strong opponents, absorbing their power and adding it to his own reserves. His muscles felt dense, like coiled steel springs, and his senses were dialed up to their absolute peak. This confrontation would be the ultimate litmus test to see exactly how far he had come and if his evolution was enough to stand against a true monster. With a feral growl, Midwak charged in. Right as he closed the distance, entering Unzoku’s personal space, Midwak planted both feet firmly and kicked off the ground with explosive force. He threw his body into a violent rotation, spinning through the air like a living drill, a spinning rocket aimed directly at his target. The impact was thunderous. Midwak’s legs slammed into Unzoku, but the larger creature had reacted in time, bringing up both hands to block the assault. The force of the collision sent a shockwave through the area, but Unzoku held his ground. “Hah!” Unzoku grunted, a hint of genuine surprise in his deep voice. “You have more strength than I imagined!” Midwak didn’t let the momentum die. When his initial hit was stopped, gravity took hold, and he dropped. Now positioned directly underneath Unzoku’s guard, he saw an opening. With lightning speed, he flicked his wrist, slashing several of his razor-sharp nails upward, aiming directly for the soft spot under Unzoku’s chin. It was a strike meant to eviscerate, but when the nails connected, they met resistance that shouldn’t have been possible. It hit Unzoku, certainly, but the nails didn’t even penetrate his hide. It was as if Midwak had swiped at a wall of solid stone rather than flesh. Unzoku, realizing the pest was too close for comfort, attempted to jump back to create distance. However, he changed tactics mid-motion. Instead of retreating, Unzoku’s massive hand shot out and clamped around Midwak’s leg. There was no time to react. Unzoku swung Midwak like a ragdoll, smashing him violently into the concrete wall that supported the bridge they were fighting under. CRASH! Midwak’s entire body shuddered as he made impact. The force was catastrophic, causing a spiderweb of large cracks to instantly form on the pillar. Dust billowed out, and loose bricks tumbled to the ground, clattering around Midwak as he fell to the floor, gasping for air. Unzoku loomed over him, his eyes gleaming with a twisted curiosity. “Is this it?” Unzoku asked, his voice echoing under the bridge. “Is this your desperate fight for your life? You claimed you wanted to get even stronger than the Alphas. So show me! Show me that struggle. Show me why you are deserving of that power and not them. Show me your hunger!” The taunt ignited something primal within Midwak. He wasn’t going to die here, not like this. In response, Midwak let out a piercing scream that tore through his throat. He forced himself up, his muscles bulging and rippling beneath his fur as he pushed his body beyond its limits. He charged at Unzoku again, a blur of fury. Before he even reached the larger beast, Midwak was already swinging. His hands became a blur of motion, slicing through the air. He released a non-stop barrage of claw swipes, turning himself into a whirlwind of blades. Slash! Slash! Slash! The attacks rained down on Unzoku’s body. Six of them connected with the same specific area on Unzoku’s torso, the sheer repetition of force finally yielding a result. Unzoku grunted, his feet sliding backward across the dirt. It was only a few inches, but Midwak had moved him. Although the attacks hadn’t badly hurt Unzoku, the larger werewolf was forced to turtle up, blocking his vitals from the frenzy. When the barrage finally ceased, Unzoku opened his arms, ready to grab the attacker, but his eyes widened. Midwak wasn’t there. In the split second that Unzoku had flinched, Midwak had dropped low, sliding across the ground like a shadow. He grabbed onto Unzoku’s ankle, using the leverage to swing his own body around with centrifugal force. He was now directly behind Unzoku. Midwak didn’t hesitate. He clenched his fists, abandoning the claws for blunt force. He punched consistently and ruthlessly, digging his knuckles into the muscles of Unzoku’s back. Each blow was a strong, resounding pound that echoed like a war drum. Thud. Thud. THUD. The hits were heavy. Even for a large, durable creature like Unzoku, taking a direct beating from Midwak—who was currently one of the strongest Werewolves—had to hurt. Unzoku roared in annoyance and began to turn around, but Midwak was already in motion for the finisher of his combination. As Unzoku’s head came into view, Midwak launched a heavy, spinning kick that landed squarely on the side of Unzoku’s face. The impact whipped Unzoku’s head to the side violently. For the first time, the metallic taste of iron filled Unzoku’s mouth. He was bleeding. Unzoku wiped his lip, looking at the blood, and then smiled. “Perfect,” Unzoku said, his tone shifting from mockery to dark approval. “Just perfect. You are the perfect type of person to become a Glutton. You are perfect to lead them to their end.” Midwak didn’t try to listen to the riddle. He didn’t care about Gluttons or leadership. He only cared about survival and victory. Running forward, he threw everything he had left into a desperate overhead strike. At the exact same moment, Unzoku threw out his own fist to meet it. The two fists collided in mid-air. The difference in power was immediately apparent. Unzoku’s fist was around four times the size of Midwak’s. Physics took over instantly. The entirety of Midwak’s hand was crushed backward. The sickening sound of knuckles breaking filled the air, and the kinetic energy sent Midwak flying backward. He skid across the rough ground, sliding dangerously close to the edge. Just barely, Midwak was able to hook his remaining good claws into the ledge, digging into the earth to stop himself from tumbling into the rushing river below. Breathing heavily, glancing at his shattered arm, Midwak didn’t care about the pain. Adrenaline masked the agony as he pulled himself back up to his feet. “Even if I die,” Midwak snarled, clutching his broken hand, “I’m going to make sure to make you bleed as much as possible!” Unzoku seemed almost impressed. “The Strike Force, I believe you call it,” Unzoku mused. “They are quite strong from what I’ve seen. And with you to lead them, I’m sure you will be up to the task of getting rid of them. This has been a good match, Midwak.” Ignoring all of the cryptic words, Midwak continued to charge in. He forced his legs to move, forced his body to obey his will. As he ran, for a brief moment, images flashed through his mind. He thought of the other Strike Force members. He had spent his time with them here; he had fought alongside them. If he didn’t defeat Unzoku here and now, what would happen to them? From the sounds of it, Unzoku had plans for them. Did Unzoku want to turn them into the same type of Werewolves as himself? Or worse? And then what? They would be hunted down and killed, perhaps even by the Howlers. They would be treated as abominations. That wasn’t something he wanted for them. He felt a surge of protective rage. With his remaining good fist, he threw it forward with every ounce of strength he possessed, aiming for Unzoku’s heart. But the punch never landed. It was grabbed from the side by a furry hand. It wasn’t Unzoku’s hand. Midwak froze. The hand that held his fist was clearly that of a werewolf, yet it possessed the immense strength required to stop him dead in the middle of a full-force punch. Slowly, Midwak turned his head to look at the interloper. He could see it was like the other Werewolf he had faced previously. Its fur was ragged and matted, and its muscles were stretched to the point of tearing, giving it a grotesque, powerful appearance. But there was something else about the face, something familiar in the structure of the jaw and the eyes. Midwak’s eyes widened in recognition as the realization hit him. “Wait...” Midwak thought, his mind reeling. “Haven’t I seen you before?” He stared at the creature holding his fist. “Aren’t you that AFC fighter...
