Chapter 2122: So that’s the Anomaly, eh? RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE THUNDER THUNDER THUNDER The Universe reacted in anger again. By now, this had become such a common sight that almost no being was surprised by it—even Mortals were no exception. They had heard about the ’God’s anger’ from their ancestors, and experiencing it on their own was nothing new to them. However, while the rest of the Universe simply thought of it as an everyday occurrence, in Vael’Terros, the world where the Supreme Borns had gathered all the Mercenary Guild Leaders, things were different. Their reaction to the Universe’s anger was much heavier than others. Of course, the Universe’s anger didn’t really affect Vael’Terros. With a wave of his hand, the Eternal from the Supreme World of Balance negated all the tremors that could have caused any harm to any being present here. The problem, however, was the fact that the Universe had reacted when they were waiting for the party they sent to return. This... felt ominous. "They still aren’t back." The Eternal from the Supreme World of Light muttered in a low voice, staring at Balance, who nodded solemnly. Zarveth, the party of other Supreme Borns, and Neremoth who went after them, had left a few hours ago. Their goal was to investigate the Mercenary Worlds that were destroyed by the Chain Breakers. The goal was simple. They wanted to find a clue regarding the Chain Breakers—or better yet, meet a member of the said group and bring him here to know more about them. If it was just the investigation, then with Zarveth’s speed, they should have been back a long time ago. After all, the Chain Breakers had only destroyed fifty-six worlds. There was no way Zarveth would investigate fifty-six Mercenary Worlds for more than a few hours. Even if the task was tedious, he would have ordered his subordinates to do it while he himself would have returned with a bored look on his face. That was the type of being he was. Neremoth too wasn’t an exception. The entire reason he left was because he was bored. Both Light and Balance knew it. If they were still investigating, that being would have returned a long time ago. After all, investigation was definitely much more boring than whatever was going on here. At the very least, here, he could have rightfully tortured a few mercenaries to death while they begged him for mercy. It was something Neremoth usually enjoyed. But... Balance muttered lightly, and Light nodded with a solemn look on his face. Both Balance and Light took out their relics to report their findings and— Bzz Both of them received the same answer. "What did they say to you?" Balance questioned. "Continue what you are doing." Light answered, and seeing Balance nod at his words, he understood Balance got the same. The two of them nodded at each other and did as they were told, no longer thinking about those who had disappeared. Just then—another chamber turned red, another guild leader was caught lying. It was a sight that made the rest of the mercenary guild leaders pale in fright. Soon, the screen appeared, showing the guild leader’s very soul being ripped into pieces, and when Light saw that— "These people never learn." He shook his head—disappointed. ... On the other side, in a hall with a comically large table, four entities of different light hovered at each side of the table. Yes, once again, the strongest beings of the Universe, the Supreme Infinities, were having a meeting. "Did you sense it?" An entity made of white light with an incomprehensible energy around it questioned in a calm voice. He was the Supreme Being of Eternity—or the Eternity Infinity. "Three of my people have disappeared." An entity made of grey light with a calm, neutral energy around it answered. He was the Supreme Being of Balance—or the Balance Infinity. Another entity with golden light and pure, kind energy around it nodded at those words. She was the same. She had also sensed three of her people disappear a while ago. She tried it a few times, but she could no longer sense them. She was the Supreme Being of Light—or the Light Infinity. "Four of mine." Another entity, made out of black light and dark, ominous energy, muttered in a hoarse, dissatisfied voice. He was the Supreme Being of Darkness—the Darkness Infinity. Darkness’s words instantly attracted the others’ attention, and Eternity nodded. "Four of mine as well. Three Transcendent and... one Zarveth." "Zarveth...?" Balance seemed surprised. Zarveth was one of Eternity’s strongest men, so he knew him by name. But for someone like Zarveth to disappear without being able to report anything... "Is the enemy...?" Balance questioned in a heavy voice. He had reached the same conclusion—the enemy might be an Infinity—but— Eternity shook his head. "He got greedy." He answered. "Greedy...?" Light muttered slowly, and suddenly, a screen showing Nux appeared in front of the four entities. "...Who is that?" Darkness questioned. He was annoyed that he lost more people than Light and Balance, but since whatever was happening seemed exciting, he didn’t pay much attention to it—for now. "The Anomaly." Eternity answered. His voice still seemed as calm as ever, as if the Anomaly’s existence wasn’t a big deal. Darkness, however, was not the same— "So that’s the Anomaly, eh?" He spoke. Even though his face wasn’t visible, all three of them could tell just how wide his grin currently was. "He is much prettier than I expected." Darkness laughed. Others did not react to his words. Rather— "So Zarveth..." Balance called out, waiting for Eternity to explain. "He thought he could defeat the Anomaly and take his powers for himself." Eternity briefed the situation. "So this is why you sent him, huh..." Light muttered. Eternity, however, did not react to her words. He didn’t have to—he wasn’t trying to fool anyone. That was indeed the reason he sent Zarveth. He already knew what the Eternal was thinking. He knew how he would act in case something happened, and... Since they needed more information on the Anomaly, sending him was the perfect choice. Yes, from the start to his very end, Zarveth never once acted independently like he believed. He was a pawn through and through. A pawn who would have been discarded eventually anyway. As for what if he had actually succeeded in making the Anomaly’s powers his own and became a far bigger threat than the Anomaly? 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺 Eternity simply did not consider that to be possible. If the Anomaly could be defeated by a mere Eternal and his powers taken away in this manner, then those powers were never strong enough to threaten them anyway. "So how did it play out?" Balance questioned. Since Eternity’s little plan had succeeded, he wanted to see what he found out. "There are some interesting things." Eternity muttered in an amused voice. The screen hovering in front of them suddenly zoomed into a being that wasn’t Zarveth, or any other Supreme Born, or the Anomaly. She was someone else. "Who is she?" Balance questioned. Since Eternity had brought it up, he knew she would be someone interesting, and Eternity’s answer did not disappoint. "That’s the Heir of Chaos." "Ehhh?? Another one, huh?" Darkness grinned again. "What number is this one now? Hundredth? Or is it two hundredth? I wonder how many he killed this time." He questioned, clearly interested in the topic. Eternity, however, shook his head and— "She’s different. She was close to completing the Body of Chaos." He revealed, and in an instant— "...What?" The air in the hall changed.
