Supreme Magus
Description
Ezio McCoy was the abusive and bipolar father of Derek and Carl McCoy. He viewed his sons as failures and regularly subjected them to physical abuse, often utilizing a leather belt to vent his anger. His philosophy was centered on extreme self-reliance, famously stating that one should never delegate tasks. Even when his children attempted to stand up for themselves or seek protection, he escalated his violence by purchasing weapons like a police baton. His death eventually served as the catalyst for his son Derek's newfound freedom from years of household trauma. He was also a serial cheater, maintaining an extramarital affair alongside his abusive family life.
Ezio was characterized by his abusive, bipolar, and volatile nature. He was a firm believer in the mantra that if a person wants something done correctly, they must do it themselves. He lacked empathy for his children, viewing them primarily as disappointments or outlets for his pent-up rage. His unpredictable temperament made him a source of constant fear for his family, and he demonstrated a lack of loyalty by engaging in extramarital affairs.
Ezio grew up as a deeply flawed individual who harbored resentment toward his sons, Derek and Carl. He frequently beat them for perceived weaknesses, such as when he punished Derek for reporting middle school bullying. He allowed Derek to join an aikido dojo only because he viewed it as a step toward his son becoming a 'man.' As Derek grew physically stronger, Ezio transitioned to using a police baton to maintain control. Ezio's life came to an end when he accidentally slipped on a wet floor in his condo stairwell while rushing to a job commission. Derek witnessed the fall but chose not to intervene, effectively allowing his father to die so he and his brother could escape his abuse. Post-mortem, Derek continued to harbor memories of Ezio's infidelity and cruelty.
