Kima Retta

Kima is depicted as a cold, calculating, and opportunistic individual driven by greed and social climbing. She lacks genuine maternal affection, viewing her children primarily as assets to be traded or exploited for the benefit of the Retta household. She is manipulative and persistent, willing to cross ethical and legal lines to secure her business interests. Even when faced with the consequences of her actions, she remains focused on self-preservation through coercion and deceit.

Kima Retta is described as a lovely woman in her late 40s who appears significantly younger, looking barely past 40. She stands approximately 1.6 meters (5'3") tall. She possesses light brown hair and sky-blue eyes, with a visage marked by delicate proportions and full lips. She carries the sickly pale complexion common to northerners, a trait she passed down to her daughters.

Kima and her husband Crefas raised their daughters, Kamila and Zinya, with strict control to enhance their value in arranged marriages, while designating their son, Kaz, as the family heir. They forced Zinya into a marriage with Fallmug Sarta to expand their business reach in Xylita. Kamila defied them by joining the army, which led to her being disowned, though her parents later sought to reconcile when she gained influence. Kima famously attempted to convince Kamila to extort Lith for valuable magic items. Following the collapse of the Sarta household and their own descent into debt, the Rettas turned to criminal activities. Their attempts to manipulate Lith and his family backfired when they were exposed and arrested by Jirni Ernas.
