Supreme Magus
Description
Yurial Deirus was the heir to the Deirus Grand Duchy and a student at the White Griffon Academy. Initially appearing as an arrogant and calculating noble, he harbored a deep internal struggle regarding the weight of his family duties and the desire for personal freedom. He became a close friend and confidant to Lith, often sharing his anxieties about the burdens placed upon him. Throughout his academic career, he excelled in magical theory, particularly in the study of complex arrays. His life was tragically cut short during Nalear's insurrection when he was fatally wounded by a mind-controlled Quylla. His death left a profound impact on Lith, who later utilized Yurial's research to develop powerful new magical techniques.
Also known as
Yurial was initially perceived as a charming lady-killer and a schemer who treated social interactions as opportunities for advancement. Beneath this facade, he was an introspective individual who felt trapped and depressed by the expectations of his noble heritage. He was characterized by a practical mind and a sharp wit, which he used to mask his deep-seated fear of being a 'spectator' in his own life. As his friendship with Lith deepened, he became more sincere, showing great empathy for those around him and eventually valuing genuine connection over political utility.
Yurial was 1.65 meters (5'5") tall and described as having an arrogant-faced appearance. He possessed red hair, blue eyes, and pale pink skin, generally maintaining a charming and polished look throughout his time at the academy.
Born into a prominent magical bloodline, Yurial was pressured by his father, Archmage Velan Deirus, to excel without receiving any special resources. At White Griffon Academy, he initially viewed peers as assets, but he eventually formed genuine bonds with Lith and his circle. Traumatized by the academy's requirement to execute prisoners during the second exam, he developed a dependency on tranquilizers to cope with his guilt and the mounting pressure of his arranged marriage. Despite his academic successes, such as achieving the moniker 'The White Hand,' he remained deeply unhappy and alienated by his station. He was eventually killed while attempting to flee a trap during the academy's siege, and his personal diaries later revealed his true, vulnerable nature to his friends.
