Chapter 44: Hotty Dream [Music: Lose My Breath By Rhea Robertson] CATHERINE I gasped softly when a hand glided up my stomach, sinking into my cami and out to seize my neck. When I opened my eyes, Ares emerged from my blanket and hovered above me in his massive frame. I let my eyes take in the godly sight of him, those fine abs on full display, his broad chest and shoulders. I’m already weak all over from filling my gaze with such perfection. Our eyes locked in a vigor that set my body ablaze, a tingle of both hot and cold dousing my brain and making me pulse alive. "Say it..." he murmured as he drew near me. "Tell me what I need to hear, baby..." I knew what he asked for, and I felt it in my bones; the weight of it made my limbs heavy. "Make me," I taunted as that infamous smile spread on his lips. I froze as his grip locked tighter until I got dizzy, yet despite this, I gave him eyes that said: "Do your worst." Suddenly, I’m trapped beneath him, and I’m no longer seeking dominance, but I become indulgent to whatever he has in mind for me. "Deny it all you want..." His lips brush the corner of my lips. "Fight it..." They dragged to my neck, and I melted at the chill taking over my body like ice. "But your body..." His tongue rolled to my chest, and suddenly, my cami was gone. "It says otherwise." "Ares..." I moaned when I felt his mouth on my nipples. I thrust myself forward for him to take me. "We both know what you want." "What?" I flashed open my eyes and found Reed standing at my door, smirking. "R-Reed?" What is he doing here? I looked back at Ares for an explanation, but I’m already in a position where my legs were hung over his shoulders, and I’m completely naked. "He’ll watch as I fuck you until you tell me what I need to hear," Ares whispered darkly to my ear. ~ I sit up with a start, gasping for breath as if I had just emerged from the surface of water. With shaky hands, I peeled my duvet off, but Ares wasn’t under. I veered my gaze to the door, and neither was Reed. I collapsed back to my bed and gripped my hair like I wanted to rip it off my skull. It was a dream, thank God it was. But the lower part of my body said otherwise, because I’m fucking wet. "Fuck!" I grumbled, using the pillow to hide my face in shame. I’m a lost cause. I cast the pillow aside and sat up, my mood foul, and it seemed like my day was gonna be hell already. A dream like that does not bear sweetness on the coming day. I took my glasses from the nightstand and wore them, swinging my legs off the bed, but halting my movement when I caught a plate of breakfast on my nightstand. The universe is giving me a sign. It’s telling me, don’t worry, girl, I got you. I pouted and took the plate and fork, diving without hesitation, drinking the coffee, and it was exactly how I liked it, with enough cream and sugar. I moaned with every taste, closing my eyes, doing a little dance with my head, but halfway through finishing my meal, I eyed the plate, the food suddenly heavy in my mouth. Wait... why do I have breakfast in my room? I swallowed hard and held the plate tightly as a strange feeling swamped me; one word echoed in my head. Ares. I veered my gaze to Loki, giving himself a bath on the floor. "Did you see him come in here?" I asked as if he could understand me. I couldn’t resist abandoning such a good breakfast, so I finished it up and grabbed my phone. I went to my contact list, unblocked Dan’s number, and called, but his line was not going through. I couldn’t shake Tori’s words out of my head about him missing. I hope he was okay. He may have broken my heart, but a part of me still cares a little bit, and I don’t think that will ever change. I took the plate out of my room, making a turn in the lobby, eyeing the doors. I don’t even know which was Ares’ room. Each time I woke up, he was always in the gym or in the kitchen. My curiosity got the better of me, so I dropped the plate on the credenza and began exploring. I haven’t done that since I came to this penthouse; the least I could do was get familiar with my environment. Just to be safe, I checked the gym and the living room from upstairs, and thankfully, Ares didn’t seem to be around. Maybe he went out for a morning run? Then I had time. The penthouse had a total of five guest bedrooms, excluding mine, and all the doors were unlocked. The rooms were neatly set and untouched. There was a cinema room too, and I made a mental note to use it from time to time. I love movies. Another was a private office, kind of similar to his back at the company; the only difference was that behind the desk were tall bookshelves filled with books, and a big crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling. A leather sofa and a round ottoman sat on the rug. Just like the guest rooms, this looked untouched. If I hadn’t smelled his cologne in here, then I would have thought he never used this office. His desk had no picture or anything, just like his office in the company. It made me wonder. I knew his personality, but I was hoping for some attachments. I just stood there for a minute, taking in this cold, detached place; everything about this penthouse was. A home should be filled with warmth, but this place was empty, and the amount of expensive things didn’t fill that void. Granny would have hung flowers everywhere and given it her feminine touch. Gramps would have had this desk filled with pictures, both the embarrassing ones and the ones he loved so much. Even my old apartment had more life. It’s saddening to think that Ares’ personality reflected on every inch of his life. Rubbing my arms, I walked out of the office, closing the door behind me, feeling a stinging sensation in my chest. Now that I think about it more clearly, Ares has always been alone in a way. When I worked as his secretary, I saw him as nothing more than a cocky devil CEO who didn’t give a shit about anyone; now I wonder if there could be a reason he was so... isolated. From the corner of my eye, I caught a black door at the end of the lobby that stood out. Ares’ room.
